Day 01 - Airport Negombo, Muthrajawela Boat Tour, Negombo Fish Market and City
You will meet your driver/guide at the airport, afterwards you will check in at your hotel in Negombo.
The Muthurajawela Marshes are situated just south of Negombo and cover an area of approximately 6,000 hectares inclusive of the Negombo lagoon. The daily high tide brings in seawater from the ocean into the wetland. Continuous mixing of these two waters over thousands of years, has led to a brackish, integrated coastal ecosystem that is biologically diverse and teeming with life. A variety of mangroves and other types of flora including medicinal plants are found alongside numerous types of birds, butterflies and fish, some of which are endemic. Crocodiles, monitor lizards, and Sri Lanka's largest snake, the Python, are also native.
The Negombo Fish Market is the second largest fish market in the island. The local people call it Llelama. The fish market is situated near the Old Dutch Fort Gate and held every day except Sundays.

Day 02 - Negombo, Yapahuwa & Anuradhapura
Strong, dry breezes ruffle the quiet serenity of the temperate country side. Wild grass thrusts through pleasantly undulating ground while a lone lizard revels in brilliant sunshine, poised on one of many ancient stone ruins. Overhead looms the Yapahuwa rock, a 300-foot isolated fortified wonder with a history dating back to the 13th Century.
The ruins of Anuradhapura are one of South Asia's most evocative sights. The sprawling complex contains a rich collection of archaeological and architectural wonders: enormous dagobas, soaring brick towers, ancient pools and crumbling temples, built during Anuradhapura's thousand years of rule over Sri Lanka.

Overnight stay : Anuradhapura

Day 03 - Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Aukana, Ritigala
Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankans believe this place to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures.
The Aukana Buddha statue is located 30 km northwest of Dambulla close to the ancient Kala Weva man-made rainwater reservoir. It can be reached from Kekirawa on Dambulla-Anuradhapura road. The Aukana Buddha Statue rises to a height of 11.36 metres, it is the tallest ancient Buddha statue in Sri Lanka.
Ritigala is an ancient Buddhist monastery and mountain in Sri Lanka. The ruins and rock inscriptions of the monastery date back to the 1st century BC. It is located 43 km away from the ancient monastic city of Anuradhapura

The Sigiriya Rock Fortress of Sri Lanka is situated in Matale district near to Dambulla. It can be reached along the Colombo-Habarana highway turning east from Inamaluwa, then proceeding about 10 km from Inamaluwa and passing Kimbissa township one arrives at Sigiriya.
Before Sigiriya became a Kingdom, the Sigiriya Rock base and places such as Pidurangala Rock which were endowed with many Caves and a temple had been the dwelling place of Buddhist monks from around the 3rd century BC.
Pidurangala is a massive rock formation located a few kilometers north of Sigiriya. It has an interesting history closely related to that of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Being less grand and far more difficult to climb it is often overlooked by tourists. But you will discover this rather secret place.
The Minneriya National Park is situated in the north-central plains of Sri Lanka, 20 kilometers from Polonnaruwa. Even though it is one of the smallest national parks in the country, covering just 8,889 hectares, it's a paradise with many natural wonders.

Overnight stay : Sigiriya

Day 05 - Namal Uyana, Dambulla Rock Temple, Matale Hindu Kovil, Kandy Toothtemple
The national reservation area Namal Uyana in Galkiriyagama which has the largest Rose Quartz mountain in South Asia covers a mountainous area of nearly 1000 hectares. The area was opened as a National Forest Reserve in 2005.
Matale is a small town encircled by hills, a historic power base of the last rebellious uprising against British rulers in 1848. This beautiful Hindu temple Sri Muthumariamman Thevasthanam is right in the centre of the town.
The Rock Temple of Dambulla, called Jumbukola Vihara in the principal Pali Chronicle of Sri Lanka, is situated about forty-seven miles north-west of Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhalese kings, on the main road to Anuradhapura. The shortest way from Colombo to Dambulla leads via Kurunegala, one of the capitals of the medieval Sinhalese kings. The other rock temple of equal fame, Aluvihare, where according to tradition the Buddhist scriptures were first written down in about the first century B.C., is to be found about twenty-six miles to the south on the Kandy - Dambulla road. And the famous fortress of Sigiriya with its beautiful frescoes rises aloft like a gigantic cylinder at a distance of about twelve miles to the north-east of Dambulla.
The Sacred Tooth Relic (D?lada) of the Buddha is the most venerated object of worship for Buddhists in Sri Lanka. Its present house, the Temple of the Tooth Relic (D?lada M?lig?wa) in Kandy is considered to be one of the foremost sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.

This park is also known as the Knuckles Range or Knuckles Peaks or simply as Knuckles. The reason to call it Knuckles is because there is a mountain with five peaks that look like the knuckles of a clenched fist when seen from the Kandy area ( or the SW direction of that mountain named Knuckles with a height of 6112 Feet ). The Sri Lankan name for this mountainous area is " Dumbara Mitiyawatha " which means " The Misty Valley ". In the Mediterranean climate of Kandy, the gateway to the Central Highlands, the gardens, at an elevation of 500 metres above sea-level, are tightly surrounded on three sides by a loop of the river Mahaweli (Great sandy river), the largest river of Sri Lanka.
Gadaladeniya Rajamaha Viharaya with an ancient monastery is found on the flat rock at Diggala in the district of Kandy. According to an inscription this temple was built by King Buwanekabahu IV in the year 1344. The chief architect of this temple has been a South Indian called Ganesvarachari. Day 09 - Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains, Worlds End & Ella by Train
Early in the morning we will proceed to Horton Plains and World's End and in the afternoon you do the train journey from Nanuoya to Ella.
Horton Plains is a beautiful, silent, strange world with some excellent hikes in the shadows of Sri Lanka's second- and third-highest mountains, Kirigalpotta (2395m) and Totapola (2359m). The 'plains' themselves form an undulating plateau over 2000m high, covered by wild grasslands and interspersed with patches of thick forest, rocky outcrops, filigree waterfalls and misty lakes. The surprising diversity of the landscape is matched by the impressive variety of wildlife.
World's End is located in Horton Plains National Park. It is a sheer cliff, with a drop of about 4,000 feet (1,200 m). It is one of the key tourist attractions in Sri Lanka and visited by most tourists able to do a bit of hiking.

Day 11 - Ella, Rawana Water Fall, Buduruwagala Buddha Statue and Yala National Park
The Ravana Ella (Ravana Falls) is one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Sri Lanka. The name of the falls is linked with a famous Indian epic, the Ramayana. The Ravana Ella (Ravana Falls) has been named after the brawny daemon Ravana. According to the epic, it is said that after kidnapping Sita, Ravana, the king of Sri Lanka had hidden her in the caves behind this waterfall.
The name "Buduruwagala" means "stone images of the Buddha" and measuring 51 feet here we find the tallest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka and perhaps in the world, since the Bamiyan figures no longer exist in Afghanistan. The sculpture at Buduruwagala is in lower relief unlike the other comparable Buddha statues in the country at Aukana (46 ft), Saseruwa
(36 ft) and Maligawila (36 ft), and for all of those it may have served as a model.
The second largest national park in Sri Lanka, Yala is situated in the southeastern part of the island in the dry, semi-arid climate region, bordering the Indian Ocean. The number of mammals recorded at Yala is as high as 44 while it also boasts of one of the highest leopard densities in the world. The Dutch Fort at Galle, close to the island's southernmost point, 173km from Colombo, has the distinction of being the best-preserved sea fort in South Asia. A living heritage site, this 90 hectare (222 acre) attraction is a superb blend of architecture, with fortifications that resemble those in the coastal areas of Portugal. The fall of Galle to the Dutch in 1640 saw its fortifications consolidated further resembling the fortified cities of Europe.
